Fourth Grade

Some details for Fourth Grade training (all are subject to change as the SDE continues to develop the training for this summer). 

Please click on the Science Registration link on the right side to register for summer training.  You will either register for Regular Summer Institute or Compressed or Crossover Training.  All registrations will receive a follow-up response from AMSTI-UNA to let you know which training dates to confirm you will attend this summer.   

AMSTI Unit Titles for Fourth Grade 

Year 1:  Energy and Wave Unit (semester long unit)
  • STC Module:  Electric Circuits
  • BBS:  Energy Works
Year 2:  Water and Landforms Unit
  • STC Module:  Land and Water
  • GLOBE:  Soil Characterization
Year 2:  Animal Studies Unit
  • STC Module:  Animal Studies

Types of AMSTI Science Training for this Summer
  1. Regular AMSTI Summer Training:  This training is for teachers who have never been trained on AMSTI Science Kits.
  2. Compressed AMSTI Training:  This is for teachers who have been trained on AMSTI Science kits at a different grade level.
  3. Crossover AMSTI Training:  This is for teachers who are trained on kits that will remain at the current grade level but have had some modifications or may have additional kit titles as part of the new unit (For fourth grade this would be the Energy and Waves Unit.

Training information for previously trained AMSTI Science Teachers (this is the flowchart we will use to determine which type training you will need to attend)

The following flowchart is for teachers who have been through some type of AMSTI Science Training.  It can be used to help you know how many days of training and what type of training to expect.  If you have never had AMSTI Science training, you will attend Regular AMSTI Summer Training.

Grade level change (Fully Year 1 and 2 trained at a grade level other than Fourth Grade)
Trained one summer institute at a different grade level other than Fourth Grade (grade level change)
